Complete Toolkit

This section of the course features your complete toolkit with several resources, templates and more to support you in your training, feedback and evaluation plans.

Tool 1:  Performance & Development Planning and Review Form

As the form’s title suggests, this is a comprehensive tool designed to support the performance and development planning and evaluation for instructors.  Rather than having a separate performance planning form, performance evaluation form, and separate development plan, these three commonly used performance tools have been combined into one. This all-encompassing tool is designed to be used at the beginning, middle, and end of the term for performance and development planning and evaluation. This tool also enables instructors to capture their self-reflections and provides opportunity to summarize any multi-source feedback that may also have been collected.

Tool 2:  Multi-Source Feedback Form

This is a tool designed to support instructors in collecting feedback concerning their performance from those with whom they interact regularly as part of their role.  As their director, you may also choose to solicit multi-source feedback of your own using this form. It is customizable to suit the needs of the individual requesting the feedback.

Tool 3:  Instructor Feedback Guide

This feedback guide was intentionally created to provide instructors with guidelines and suggestions to help them navigate the various feedback mechanisms. It covers topics including: the process of collecting multi-source feedback, what to expect from 1:1’s, and how to complete a self-review.  

Tool 4:  1:1 Discussion Guide

This guide has been created to support you in facilitating your 1:1 discussions, to ensure they have the greatest impact.  Within it, you will find specific questions to consider asking yourself in preparation for your 1:1’s; questions to ask of your instructors during your 1:1’s; and reflection questions to ask of yourself after your 1:1’s.  Of course, you’re welcome to come up with your own questions as well. The questions in this guide should help you get started.  

Tool 5:  Instructor Toolkit

The Instructor Toolkit has been designed to support the practical roll-out of the Feedback and Evaluation framework to the instructors in your organization.  Within it, you will find links to the tools and resources that support the framework, a summary of the expectations and roles in managing performance along with some additional resources to support instructors in further learning on the topic.

We recommend customizing this document by including an additional section that outlines the timelines for the performance management cycle within your work environment so that instructors have an awareness as to when each of the milestones (check-in discussion & final performance review) will take place.
